A little Bird Am I

Todays card reminded me of this poem that I found many years ago that blessed me greatly during a time of confusion and wrestling with my circumstances. God was faithful and brought me through those rough times. Looking back I didn’t really have that song on my lips always but as He is working in me and I get to know more I pray that it would become more and more a reality to me.

A little bird am I

Shut from the fields of air

And in my cage I sit and sing

To Him who placed me there;

Well pleased a prisoner to be,

Because, My God, it pleaseth Thee.

My cage confines me round,

Abroad I cannot fly,

But though my wing is closely bound,

My soul is at liberty;

For prison walls cannot control

The flight the freedom of the soul

    A little note about this card. The original design was not my own idea. It is actually my friend, Margaret, who’s lovely inspiration this was! When I first saw her design I loved it from the start and was delighted when she said I may use her work for inspiration.

  To make this card you will need a bird cage die or a cutting machine. I cut this one, along with the bird, with the Silhouette. The vines were stamped and die cut from Heartfelt Creation’s Jars and Vines stamps and dies. It was a lot of fun layering all the individual pieces on this card and I love how it turned out. I will be making more variations and adding pictures so be sure to check back for more inspiration later.

  Enjoy your day and may it be filled with praises to your maker in whatever corner of the world you are.
